This gallery is devoted the history of the Spitler School Project which began in the little village of Ang Chagn Chass, Cambodia, in June 2005. These photos take the project through the end of the year 2005.

dannypam > On our 4-Day tour of Cambodia in April of 2005 our guide was a young man named Chea Sarin.
dannypam > Sarin toured with us for three days as we fought off some grueling heat to see the amazing temples of Angkor Wat.
dannypam > In addition to being an excellent guide we were impressed with his caring attitude toward the impoverished people trying to survive in the small villages.
dannypam > At our request we stopped at some of the villages and were able to get an idea of how they lived and survived in this country which has been so ravaged by war and genocide.
dannypam > Sarin shared with us that, as a child, he was a refuge from the Pol Pot genocide which killed his father, and he had almost died because he did not have access to clean water.
dannypam > He showed us this small water well and hand pump at one of the schools. He had arranged for the drilling of this well and the installation of the pump with the financial help of one of his clients.
dannypam > As we prepared to leave Cambodia we gave Sarin enough cash for a well and ask him to arrange to have one drilled for a needy village.
dannypam > Within a couple of weeks we received these photos of our well, and emails telling us how grateful the village people were for our generosity.
dannypam > We shared this story with our family and friends, and in a couple of weeks we had sent Sarin enough money for three more wells.
